Michael Panetta, a native of Southern California, has always been deeply connected to two passions: art and the ocean. Even as a child, when he wasn't exploring the depths of the ocean, he could be found immersed in drawing and sculpting, often using clay to bring his imagination to life.
At the age of 15, his artistic journey took a transformative turn when he visited a glass factory on the picturesque island of Murano, just outside Venice, Italy. Witnessing the skill and artistry of the Maestros as they crafted exquisite glass pieces, igniting a lifelong passion for the medium.
Determined to hone his craft, Michael sought out an apprenticeship with local Laguna Beach glassblower John Barber at the age of 16. After two years under Barber's tutelage, he embarked on a quest to learn from a variety of artists, constantly striving to expand his skills and techniques. In 2006, he returned to Murano to study under Italian Maestro Pino Signoretto, further enriching his artistic repertoire.
Upon his return in 2007, Michael set out to establish his own company and develop his unique artistic vision. Though initially faced with the challenges of the "starving artist" lifestyle, his perseverance and dedication eventually paid off. By 2010, his career gained momentum, with his distinctive sculptural glass work earning recognition at art shows along the West Coast.
Breaking away from conventional utilitarian glasswork, Michael focused on creating purely sculptural pieces, earning him prestigious "Best of Show" awards at multiple exhibitions. In 2015, he realized a long-held dream by opening his own glassblowing studio, followed by the inauguration of his gallery, "La Vita di Vetro," in Laguna Beach, California, in 2018.
Michael's innovative designs have garnered attention from art collectors worldwide, including royalty from Saudi Arabia. With two decades of experience under his belt, he has become renowned for his avant-garde style and keen eye for design. His specialty lies in crafting custom-made glass wall sculptures that echo the fluidity and movement of the ocean, evoking a sense of pure serenity for those who behold them.
Through his art, Michael Panetta seeks to share the profound emotions he experiences amidst the ocean's beauty, translating them into captivating glass creations that captivate the soul.
Michael works closely with clients who wish to create a custom Wall Installation that will beautifully create a focal point for any area.
